SBR
Styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) is the largest volume synthetic rubber. Compared to natural rubber, SBR has better processability, heat aging and abrasion resistance but is inferior in terms of elongation, hot tear strength, hysteresis, resilience and tensile strength. With over 70% being consumed in the manufacture of tyres and tyre products, demand is very much dependent on the automotive sector.
Since the material exhibits excellent resistance to brake fluids as well as good moisture resistance, synthetic rubber components are commonly used in hydraulic brake system seals and diaphragms. SBR is also widely used in mechanical rubber parts, panel grommets and body pads.
SBR rubber is also widely used in the following applications:
• SBR rubber pads (Mining equipment)
• Synthetic Rubber Seals
• Rubber gaskets
• SBR Panel grommets (HVAC market)
• Custom molded rubber components for plumbing applications
